Rachel RobertsAs the ground thaws and spring starts sprouting, it is a good time to stop, take a look around and get inspired. We've made it through winter, and lighter days are ahead. For Parks & Recreation magazine, I'm inspired everyday by the amount of thought, time and energy that our contributing writers commit to our publication.
Our professional members, spend eight, nine, sometimes 12 hours a day managing their facilities, yet take the time to share their expertise with other members through well-written articles. Our citizen members, may have other fulltime jobs that keep them busy throughout the work week, but many still find time to contribute to Parks & Recreation.
Though we try our best to recognize and reward their efforts, most of our writers spend their own personal time and expense to write and research, with nothing expected except their byline. Before spring begins I just want to take this time to stop, look at the publication you've helped create, and give a heartfelt thanks to all who contribute to the making of the magazine. Your hard work and talent inspires our staff to make Parks & Recreation the best it can be every month.
We are in the process of adding even more members and input to our team with a new editorial advisory committee. In the coming weeks, we will solidify that group, and we are excited to be able to share those names with you.
If you would like to contribute in any way to Parks Recreation, the voice of NRPA, please e-mail edit@nrpa.org with your ideas.
Thanks again--we couldn't do it without you.
