Ted C. Hilliard dissolved his partnership with Jerry Dorchuck in Politics Marketing International to focus full-time on political consulting through his Sacramento-based firm, Hilliard Consulting Services. He is currently working for California Assemblyman Dennis Cardoza (D) in the race for the open 18th Congressional District seat. Cardoza defeated U.S. Rep. Gary A. Condit in the Democratic primary and faces state Sen. Dick Monteith (R) in California's only competitive congressional race.

Building Our Leadership Diversity PAC (BOLD PAC), which contributes to Hispanics running for Congress, hired veteran Democratic political operative Rich Lopez as finance director. Lopez worked on the 1998 re-election campaign of Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), as a legislative aid to U.S. Rep. Joe Baca (D-CA) and as PAC director for the Texas Hospital Association in Austin, Texas. BOLD PAC is helping to finance voter education efforts for competitive U.S. House races in Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada and New Mexico.

Shirley & Banister Public Affairs hired Kate Pomeroy as an account executive. She was previously marketing manager of online communications for the Heritage Foundation. The Alexandria, VA-based firm also hired Robert Keyser as a junior account executive and Michaun Powell as executive assistant.

Compass Media Group, Inc. hired Regan Burke as a senior strategist. He previously served as a lead advance person for President Clinton, director of scheduling, advance and briefing for former Education Secretary Richard Riley (D) and media specialist for the Chicago Housing Authority. Burke has also served as executive director of the Democratic Party of Illinois and director of communications for Cook County, Illinois, Clerk David Orr.
