The George Eastman House in Rochester, New York, and the International Center for Photography in New York City have received a sizeable grant of $300000 from the Henry Luce Foundation to mount a joint exhibition of works by the famed Boston photographers Southworth and Hawes, who were active from about 1840 to 1860. Presented at both venues, the exhibition will feature more than 150 of their daguerreotypes, and it will undoubtedly prove to be of interest to photographers and historians alike. Another step In the expanding collaboration between upstate New York and the City initiated by the International Center for Photography and the George Eastman House is the Web site www.photomuse.org. Featuring joint projects, it divides its undertakings into categories of 'Exhibition," 'Education" and "Collection." The latter component already features several thousand photographs housed by the two institutions, and they are accessed through a common search system, known as The Museum System, which has been implemented b y both institutions.
