Dillett's New York state of mind - Hard Times - Paul Dillett - Brief Article

PAUL "The Canadian Colossus' DILLETT is back. After a two-year break from the competitive scene and a host of injuries and personal problems, the gentle giant is gearing up for a command performance at the 2002 Night Of Champions on May 18 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

The NOC has not been kind to Dillett. He won the 1999 rumble in NYC, although boisterous fans almost rioted in support of MARKUS RUHL. Then on the fateful night of May 20, 2000, he was handed third place, which caused him to spout off in anger. "I knew I wasn't going to win in this place no matter what I looked like," Dillett said, "so I don't give a sh-t." That was the last time Dillett competed on a pro bodybuilding stage.

Two years later, a kinder and gentler Dillett is ready to roll the dice one more time. "My life has been insane lately, and it has been a day-to-day struggle to survive. It is safe to say that the people of New York City have been through a lot lately, too, and it's time to let bygones be bygones.

"The New York bodybuilding fans are the greatest. I hold no grudges and have the utmost respect for New Yorkers. It is appropriate that I make my comeback at the scene of my undoing, and I intend to come correct on the night of the big show in the Big Apple."
