Adventures of Hollywood Bob - Hard Times - Bob Cicherillo - Brief Article
Jim SchmaltzPro bodybuilders have been known to aspire to a film career, if only because the movie sets are catered, but 2000 USA overall champ BOB CICHERILLO isn't your run-of-the-mill cinematic meathead wannabe. Big Bob recently completed filming a new sci-fi flick called Demons at the Door, an independent feature created by the effects geniuses at SOTA F/X. Unlike his buddy KING KAMALI during the offseason, Cicherillo does not play a heavy.
"I'm a good guy. I play Urial the archangel," 260-pound Chick told us during a visit to FLEX headquarters. "The part called for a big bodybuilder-type guy. Big stretch for me."
Not long after wrapping that movie, the Rochester, New York, native was talent-scouted for another production.
"A couple of people approached me in Gold's Gym [Venice, California], asking if I wanted to be in a movie," he reported. "I said, 'Yeah, right. I've heard that before.' But it ended up being legit. It's an independent short."
An independent short? You mean like KENNY JONES?
"It's called Fighting for Survival," explained Bob. "I play a street fighter."
Encouraged by his star turns, Cicherillo plans to evacuate New York and succumb to the shimmering seductive allure of Tinseltown. "Yeah, I'm going to move out to Los Angeles and see what happens. It's a tough game, but why not give it a shot?"
Don't worry, physique fans, Chick hasn't given up on starring in that other big ensemble production, the Mr. Olympia contest.
"I'll be doing the Texas show in May [Southwest USA Men's Pro Cup] and the Night Of Champions," he said. "I'm working with CHAD NICHOLLS now, and my goal is to make the Olympia, definitely. I don't believe I can knock RONNIE COLEMAN off or something ludicrous like that. Just qualifying would make me ecstatic."
And what about pairing up with Kamali to do a buddy flick?
"Yeah, we could be the new BARBARIAN BROTHERS," he cracked.
Do we smell Oscar?
