Bowyer and Woodgate: MICHAEL HAS BEEN THROUGH HELL
PAUL SCOTTMICHAEL Duberry's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his four-year- old daughter spoke yesterday of her pride in his decision to give evidence against his team-mates.
"Michael has been through hell," said Sarah Curtis. "But I am proud of what he did." Sarah spoke out at her pounds 450,000 home in Cheshunt, Herts, after Duberry's evidence helped convict former best friend Woodgate. He became a key prosecution witness after telling the jury Woodgate had admitted to him being involved in the fight that led to Sarfraz Najeib being beaten up.
Duberry has been called a "Judas" at Elland Road. He has had death threats and three men in balaclavas turned up at his home. Sarah, 25, said: "Michael is the strong, silent type. But you know he is suffering."
Duberry, 25, was accused of perverting the course of justice at the first trial. But he was cleared after changing his story and admitting he lied. He says now: "I'll be living in fear forever."
