Eats, shoots and sells to the US
RICHARD THOMSONEATS, Shoots And Leaves, the punctuation book by Lynn Truss, has become a bestseller in America.
The book, a surprise hit in Britain, has now moved to the top of the prestigious New York Times bestseller list for hardback non- fiction books. It is an outcome that few, including Truss's own publisher, Gotham Books, had anticipated. No one really expected the American public to reveal a passion for accurate punctuation.
However, since the book's publication in Britain last year, Eats, Shoots and Leaves has been reprinted 15 times. There are now 750,000 copies in print and the number is still climbing.
It has defeated all the how-to business manuals and self-help books that usually dominate the top of the US bestseller lists.
