New automated friction feeder grants users flexibility and integration simplicity, along with ease of use

Speed: 450 products per minute

The new ST 550 friction feeder is a simple automation solution for the limits on productivity and profits caused by manual insertion of small materials into packaging cartons or containers. The simple-to-use ST 550 is IQuipped[TM] with an intelligent microprocessor controller that gives users maximum flexibility and ease of integration. Its full-function keypad with bright vacuum fluorescent display quickens set-up and provides real-time job reporting. A convenient I/O pack provides a variety of electronic signals that makes the host system interface easily. ST 550 provides speeds up to 450 ppm and handles product sizes from 1 x 2.5 inches up to 5 x 5.5 inches. The feeder is housed in a one-piece stainless steel enclosure and is built with precision components for long life in demanding environments.

Friction feeder/auto-loader cuts operator labor; ensures consistent product supply

ASB 310K and 380K friction feeders feature five feet of product loading area and handle products sizes as small as 1 x 1 inches and as large as 10.2 x 13.4 inches. Outfeed options include batch drop and vertical delivery. By attaching an auto-loader to the product loading area of the friction feeder, a continuous supply of product is automated into each feeder. A photoelectric sensor monitors the feeder's product fill level and signals the auto-loader to reload product. The magazine filling control alerts low product level via a signal light, allowing one operator to monitor more than one feeder. Each friction feeder is equipped with double and misfeed controls to ensure that products are individually fed, as well as to combat jams, misses and doubles. Indexing from the bottom of the product stack, feed belts with contra-running stripper rollers gently feed products without scuffing or ink transfer mishaps. ASB feeding and auto-loading systems are well suited for handling leaflets, inserts, plastic cards and other flat paper products.

New rollstock-fed coupon inserters eliminate the need to refill expired supply magazines

Speed: 300 inserts per minute

Model CI-160 and CI-250 coupon inserters in the Acu-Sert Series automatically feed and dispense pre-printed coupons or leaflets from roll stock, eliminating the need to constantly refill expired supply magazines. Model CI-160 feeds a web up to 6 inches wide, folds the coupon/leaflet and inserts the cut product in continuous operation or on demand. Model CI-250 feeds a web up to 10 inches wide, without folding the coupon or leaflet. The flat product is cut and inserted in continuous motion or on demand. These machines achieve speeds up to 300 ipm, depending on the cut-off length of the product. As an added value, both machines also dispense overwrapped coupons or leaflets.

New automatic rotary placer provides precise placement at high speeds

Speed: 800 products per minute

New line of automatic rotary placers consists of multiple-head, cam-action machines that incorporate a cam-controlled linear motion of the vacuum cups to provide smooth action from pick-up point to placement, as well as precise placement at high speeds. Up to eight pick-off stations allow for speeds up to 800 products per minute. A rugged design combined with a high-capacity magazine provides long life and reliable operation.

Belt conveyor feeder automatically arranges randomly arriving products onto fixed centers

The Servo-Smart[TM] in-line feeding system is a "smart" belt conveyor that automatically takes randomly arriving products and places them on fixed centers for infeed to downstream packaging operations. Servo-Smart uses multi-axis servo technology to accept a continuous random flow and then discharge for applications that require discrete items to be fed with specific and controlled spacing.

Portable, heavy-duty coupon dispenser renders speed, reliability and cost savings

Speed: 225 coupons per minute

The Model CD-2000 coupon dispenser uses preprinted rollstock, which eliminates frequent magazine reloading and contributes to savings against the cost of pre-folded coupons. Compact and portable, the heavy-duty CD-2000 reliably accommodates three-shift operation. Running independently of other packaging equipment, the self-contained unit discharges coupons as flat sheets, or folds the coupon's width into two panels with a forming plow. The CD-2000 will dispense one or more coupons for each electrical signal received and machine cut-off is accurate and repeatable.

Rotary hang tab placer permits fast changeovers and accurate placement

Speed: up to 250 per minute

Rotary hang tab placers folds tabs and positions them over bottle necks at speeds up to 250 per minute. The standard rotary can be adapted to fold and place hang tabs onto the necks of various sized bottles. Quick-change timing screw assemblies allow fast changeovers from one product size to another. Patented gear-driven rotary motion provides reliability, low maintenance, long life and smooth, accurate performance. Low-friction performance, nylon vacuum valves and wide-reinforced vacuum lines also ensure low maintenance. A powered horizontal magazine is used to decrease the number of times the magazine needs to be refilled.

Dispenser for 3-D overwrapped items is fast, reliable and accurate

Speed: 150 cycles per minute

The 3D-901 dispenser accommodates three-dimensional products overwrapped in a continuous-web format. Products can include promotional items, pharmaceutical and hygiene products or individual pouches overwrapped in film. The bandolier of film containing these items is then fan-folded into large cartons. The 3D-901's method of operation makes it ideal for the insertion of pouches into horizontal or vertical form-fill-sealers, automatic high-speed counters or infeed conveyors.

New leaflet outserter can be integrated into existing lines

Speed: up to 65 bottles per minute

The new Model 600 Sideserter applies leaflets to the side of square or rectangular bottles at a rate of 65 bottles per minute. The leaflets are held in place by hot-melt adhesive which is applied to the side of the bottle just before the application of the leaflets. The Sideserter uses a starwheel design to register the bottles as the adhesive and leaflets are applied. Capable of handling a range of bottle sizes, the unit's adjustable hopper will accommodate leaflets ranging from 1 x 3 x 3 inches and thicknesses from 0.048 to 0.188 inches. Operations such as product verification, bar code verification and reject systems are also available. The system can be supplied with its own conveyor or it can be integrated into an existing packaging line.

Prescription drug leaflet inserter combines two sets of instructions--one each for doctor and patient

Speed: 160 finished parts per minute

To satisfy strict FDA regulations regarding prescription drug information, the Twinserter[TM] combines an instruction leaflet for the doctor or pharmacist and one for the patient. Capable of rates up to 160 per minute, the Twinserter helps reduce the chances of any one of the outserts being missed or lost during the packing and unpacking processes. The collator consists of two high-speed rotary feeders for feeding the product, a glue applicator and a lugged conveyor.
