Design and function distinguish winners of Tube of the Year competition

As one of the judges, I was delighted to see so much innovation in the entries for the Tube Council of North America's annual competition. The two-prong contest awards the 1998 Most Innovative Tube (which is judged on decoration, graphics, finish, closure, innovation of the content and innovation of the seal) and the 1998 Tube of the Year for laminate, metal and plastic tubes (which are judged on general consumer sales appeal, including graphics, closure, shape, texture and ease of use).

Manufactured and printed by Norden AndBro (call (609) 589-1250 or mark Item #245), this year's Most Innovative Tube combines an oval shaped

tube with a foam applicator so consumers can conveniently apply Handsfree Sunscreen without getting their hands messy. Norden AndBro uses internal hot air welding to join the oval sponge polyethylene head to the polyethylene tube. A clear overcap prevents the foam from drying out and keeps it pliable for future applications. To complete the package, clean graphics and color coding help consumers easily find the product formulation they want.
