Ken PierceNew wireless transmitter for power/sensor signals eliminates mechanical connections prone to corrosion and damage
New High-Power Remote transmits sensor signals and up to 1 ampere of 24-volt DC current "wirelessly" to devices on packaging machinery. High-Power Remote eliminates slip rings and mechanical connections--prone to corrosion and damage-for electrical coupling to sensors and other electronic devices. Offered in power-only and power/sensor versions, the passive-inductive transmitter is not affected by, nor does it contribute to, RF or EMI interference. Ideal for applications not requiring sensor feedback, the power-only version has two simple components--local and remote heads--which can deliver 1 ampere at 24 DC volts across a 4 to 6 millimeter gap. In addition to the current transmitting heads, the power/sensor version includes amplifiers available in PNP or NPN configurations to manage sensor signals.

Combination PC/PLC makes the transition to soft control easy and cost effective
The MachineLogic[TM] PC Logic Controller (PCLC) combines PC-based open design with the reliability and cost-effectiveness of PLCs to create a simpler and less expensive transition to soft control. MachineLogic looks, feels and works like a PLC, but uses an economical, compact PC platform built around rugged, dependable solid-state flash technology. This PC-based control delivers deterministic, true real-time performance and on-line editing--just like a PLC--while doing multi-tasking like a PC. Virtually transition-free from a field service and shop-floor standpoint, MachineLogic uses an OS structure and proven PLC software engine. Flexible, scaleable and IEC 1131-3 compliant, it can run standalone, be used on any PC or be integrated with this manufacturer's Interact human machine interface (HMI) and PowerStation industrial workstations to create a single-source control solution for $2,200. MachineLogic is offered separately for as little as $895.

New control system wiring interface makes I/O connections fast and convenient
ControlLogix[TM] wiring systems eliminate the traditional practice of individually connecting 16 or 32 points to the I/O from terminal blocks. Packaging engineers can save design and installation time, simplify troubleshooting and reduce panel space usage by choosing the appropriate wiring solution from 54 ControlLogix interface modules (IFM) and inserting the matching pre-wired interface cable. The pre-wired interface cables help eliminate wiring errors and are pre-tested to eliminate the need to individually check wires, speeding system start-up. ControlLogix wiring systems are compatible with 35 different Allen-Bradley 1756 I/O modules, including eight- and 16-point digital, 16-point isolated and 32-point digital and analog.

New web cleaner adjusts hood height via simple lever movement
New Neutro-Vac web cleaners with a pneumatic lift allow the vacuum hood to be raised away from the web or adjusted up to it by simply moving a lever. Neutro-Vac systems are comprised of a vacuum hood assembly connected via ducting to a dust collector and use static control to efficiently neutralize their electrical charges from web materials. The pneumatic lift moves the hood up to 4 inches to accommodate applications where extra room is required for threading the web or for material thickness changes.

New ultrasonic counting sensor scores bulls-eye accuracy in difficult applications
New Model CT1000 ultrasonic counting sensor achieves accuracy in counting containers on single-file conveyor lines. The sensor counts separated and back-to-back containers, remembering not to recount any that have moved past in the reverse direction. As the CT1000 tabulates a container, its green LED flashes and a 20-millisecond pulse is outputted with which an electronic counter, PLC or other counting system records. A time-saving feature is the sensor's ability to continuously count various size containers at a maintained 6.35mm pass-line tolerance through a single set-up teach function, eliminating the need to stop the conveyor and readjust the sensor each time there is a change in container size or material.

New net forward encoder interface ensures proper alignment in motion-control applications
New PS-2252-12-TP1 net forward encoder interface (NFEI) provides proper alignment in industrial motion-control applications such as conveyors, labeling, web processes, printing and bar coding. The NFEI eliminates erroneous encoder pulse counts (and associated scrap and downtime) caused by uncontrolled backward movement, then counts forward pulses until reverse motion occurs. It then stops counting pulses (reverse or forward) until the encoder position exceeds the last forward position.
