Ken PierceIntermittent-motion tray packer keeps mechanical parts and floor space usage to a minimum
Speed: 25 trays per minute
New Tray-Star 25r intermittent-motion tray packer uses a horizontal endload design to minimize mechanical parts and floor space consumption. TS-25 accommodates bottles, cans, folding cartons, pouches, bags, glass jars and shrink wrapped bundles. Numerous configurations are possible for various container types. Product changeovers are easily accomplished through program selection and hand crank mechanisms in 30 minutes or less. The system is a fast and easy solution for forming and loading display design, square corner and offset trays using 125 to 275 pound test corrugated board with tray wall heights ranging from 1 to 5 inches. Trays are sealed via a hot-melt glue system. Gentle product handling is afforded by either a pneumatic or servo-drive system. Vacuum blank feeding allows for variations in board thickness and re-supply while in operation.

New print-and-apply labeler reduces changeover downtime and material waste
New print-and-apply labeler from Paragon Labeling Systems Div. uses linerless rolls to create and attach a variety of labels for all types of packaging. Labels are printed, cut to length and applied to each package. Linerless rolls save on waste and allow for more labels on a roll, reducing changeovers and maintenance while increasing production. The programmable unit can be configured for use with any standard proprietary applicator--standard-tamp, dualtamp, roll-on, corner wrap or vacuum. The print engine contains the system intelligence and can be pre-programmed to meet any print specification. Print duties include sequential numbering, time/date imprinting, quality bar coding and compliance labeling. The linerless module accommodates specific labeling needs as tasks change and will stack jobs for continuous, uninterrupted operation.

New electronic wraparound case packer minimizes corrugated costs and increases productivity
WrapAround case packer speeds throughput by 20%, reports the manufacturer, and reduces costs by eliminating the need to purchase finished corrugated cases. Using an all-electronic design and a touchscreen operator interface, the computer-controlled case packer offers the flexibility to run a variety of high-speed folding/gluing and sealing jobs without back-ups. The system uses flat corrugated case blanks that are glued and folded in-line. Modular and automatic, the case packer boasts three separate sections that receive, align, wrap and glue the corrugated blanks around accumulated bundles of folded cartons. The high-speed process delivers tightly packed, space-saving cases in final configuration for customer shipment. Design simplification and minimal use of moving parts offer rapid, user-friendly set-ups. The color touchscreen operator interface performs diagnostic checks, displays and compares production rates and keeps records of previous job specifications.
