New blister thermoformer permits near maintenance-free operation
Speed: 400 blisters per minute
The TLT 1400 blister thermoformer uses a PLC to control and coordinate numeric sequenced servomotors located at each work station throughout the thermoforming process, eliminating mechanical drive units. Changes to production parameters are made from an easily accessible control panel. Product changeovers are tool-less, quick and easy using plug-in size part modules. Most other changeover adjustments are accomplished on the touchscreen control panel. Built based on current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards, the TLT's design separates the drive chamber, the production area and the filling zone.

New high-speed rotary overcappers ensure reliable control and installation of spray-through caps
The Series 4000 high-speed rotary overcapping systems are available in two models to accommodate the new spray-through caps. The machines capture the cap, hold it and put it on reliably. The Series 4000 cappers use a toilet to grip the circumference of the cap. This design eliminates problems caused by out-of-roundness, especially on thin-walled and necked-in caps. The Model 4200 is a six-collet continuous-motion design capable of 160 containers per minute. The Model 4400 is a 12-collet continuous-motion machine capable of 400cpm.

New pressure-sensitive labeling systems economically place partial or full wraparound labels
Models 6015 WA and 6111 WA pressure-sensitive labelers are economy wraparound systems for placing partial or full wraps onto cylindrical containers. The 6015 WA features the Model 2015 (75 inches per minute) wipe-on labeling head, while the 6111 WA uses the Model 2111 (1,000ipm) air blow labeling head. As the product traverses the six-foot conveyor, it is separated by a single metering wheel. When it reaches the labeling station on the 6015 WA, the label is synchronously dispensed onto the product at the same speed it is moving on the conveyor. With the 6111 WA, the label is dispensed onto a vacuum grid and tacked onto the leading edge of the product. On both systems, once the label is positioned, the label wrap is completed by a 6 x 12-inch wrap belt which spins the product and performs a smooth lay down of the label.

Compact, hand-held static locator shows location and strength of electrostatic charges
The new 983 Static Locator is a compact, hand-held instrument used to determine the location and strength of electrostatic charges that build up on conveyors and web-fed packaging machinery. It can also be used to check incoming rolls of film for static, or to verify the functioning efficiency of static control equipment. The 983 is operated via a single, multi-function pushbutton control and shows the level of surface voltage up to 200 kilovolts on a back-lit display. The unit has two modes of operation--continuous or peak hold--and an accuracy of +/-2%. Continuous mode displays any fluctuations in static charges, peak mode indicates the highest value detected.

Automatic lubrication system extends machine maintenance intervals
The new QZ lubricator system mounts onto the block of a linear motion guide and eliminates the need for greasing or a centralized oiling system in certain applications. Ideal for hard-to-reach spots, the system enables maintenance intervals to be extended, or in some cases eliminated. It uses a wicking principle (much like a felt tip pen) to reduce wasteful over-lubrication. An inside reservoir supplies oil to eight high-density fiber wicks which then apply the lubricant directly to the bearing raceways. The result is an appropriate amount of oil to the proper surfaces.
