New Machinery/Equipment - Product Announcement
Ken PierceNew syringe filling system
speeds production by segregating sterilization from dispensing
Speed: 300 syringes per minute
This innovative system for filling "mass-vaccines" into disposable syringes decouples container sterilization and the dispensing process to permit higher flexibility and speed in the production process and promote efficiency. The sterile containers are inserted into square trays provided with corresponding holes, the trays then being sealed with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foil. Thus protected from contamination, the syringes are transferred to the filling line. In the sterile section of the line, the protective foil is removed and the syringes are filled with the vaccine. Then the sterile seal is once again applied, prior to further processing.

Continuous-motion tray sleever
is friendly to both product and operator
Speed: 160 cycles per minute
This new continuous-motion tray sleever can sleeve individually overwrapped trays and helps reduce labor while aiding productivity. A low back-pressure infeed conveyor receives product at random from upstream conveyors and uses smart belts to queue trays into the machine's flighted infeed conveyor. A continuous-motion, cam-controlled load pusher transfers the tray onto a sleeve. Independent load-jam sensing protects the machine and minimizes the danger of product damage. The sleever is chain driven at conveyor height to reduce maintenance. A programmable logic controller and an operator interface make the system user friendly.

Robotic blister packaging system
efficiently produces blister packs for clinical trials
The Trialpack system combines the exclusive EAS unit dose blister packager with a unique robot-based filling system from Fleximation and is capable of handling up to four different (but identical in appearance) products in complex double-blind, randomized clinical trials. Product travels on conveyors from feeders to the robot with a vacuum-operated gripper which locates each tablet/capsule on the conveyor using information from an integrated vision device and places it in the appropriate blister cavity. The robot can handle up to 54 products per minute. Each blister cavity is checked before product is placed within and correct placement is verified by the vision system using data from the production file. If the system detects an error, it automatically rejects the blister package. An optional Trialprint system prints information on the foil which seals the blister package.

New precision dosing system
ensures just-in-time flavoring injection, without sacrificing speed
Well suited for dairy product and biscuit applications, DosyJet is a new dosing system for large-scale processing that ensures just-in-time flavoring injection. The adjustable system can inject as many flavors as there are flavor containers available for a given manufacturing step using its independent head filler device. Once individual containers are formed, the liquid solution (milk, ice cream, batter) is injected by the filling dosing pump and mixes with flavoring already deposited onto the bottom of the container by DosyJet. This technique injects the precise amount of flavoring required. The flavoring is transmitted only by the DosyJet system, so there is never any flavoring left in the piping that carries the liquid solution, allowing for fast flavoring changes and flexible production. DosyJet's unique ball valve system allows packagers to measure laboratory precision dosages using industrial equipment operating at fast production rates in a daily 24-hour work shift environment. Dosage volumes range from 0.2 to 15 cubic centimeters and flow rates from 10 to 40 squirts per minute.
