Landor Lures Branding Vet Quarton

Toni Quarton is fully planning to put the combined power of his 17 years of packaged goods experience and seven years in technology to work for Landor Associates as the global branding and design firm's new Western Region president and managing director of its San Francisco office, using his extensive background to help clients communicate with consumers via holistic branded environments.

Bringing crucial branding expertise from his 12-year stint at Procter & Gamble's Richardson-Vicks, where Quarton helped in the creation of Clearasil and the marketing of Vidal Sasson, as well as from time spent at consulting firm Glendinning, Ameritech and, most recently, as president and COO of high-tech firm Cirque, Quarton hopes to bring Landor clients a strategic marketing approach to branding, capitalizing on both marketing and technology resources to offer services "beyond the two-dimensional world of print to extend into all aspects of a consumer's life," he said.

With a bachelor's degree in marketing from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA in marketing from Michigan State University, Quarton will strive in his new position to encourage the unison of right and left brain thinking, he said. "We need to have exciting creative that can create emotion and a sense of essence in brands, but we also need to have a strategic orientation that will help brands build businesses," Quarton said.

Building on the original principals of founder Walter Landor to develop branding and design based on consumer insight, Quarton hopes to help Landor expand into full branded environments, from naming and positioning to packaging and Internet sites, that "wholly contributes to a client's overall identity and creates a distinct impression with the consumer."
