ESPN TELECASTS OF THE PBA BOAST A NEW announcing team of host Jim Kelly and PBA veteran Randy Pedersen as analyst. But what's most exciting about the network's live Tuesday coverage of all regular tour events are several new production elements. New features include:
* A graphic and statistical package that provides immediate scoring updates and ball speed, revolution rate, and accuracy information. The system, developed in conjunction with IDS (Information Display Systems) and CATS (Computer Aided Tracking System), also generates even more statistics for broadcast, including strike and spare conversion percentages and types of pocket hits.
* A new 3-D animation and graphic package to show viewers the complexity of the oil patterns on the lanes each week.
* An updated set design that features a new commentator booth and "box seats" behind the players with "grandstand seating" on both sides.
* Player profiles that highlight the personal sides of the bowlers.
* A "Tip of the Week," from bowlers.
