I strongly disagree with Mr. Tim Robben ["The Fans Speak Out," October 2001], who says that bowling records are different from other sports because equipment is making it easier to break records. In that regard, bowling is like most sports. Records are being broken in golf, skiing, and other sports in part because of equipment and technology as well--not mainly because athletes are bigger, stronger, and faster than those of the past, as he claims.
