David StanfieldCompany grade officers designed their own Wing, Squadron Officer Course at Randolph, AFB, Texas. The 40-hour course was developed from scratch by the CGOs throughout Team Randolph under the supervision of the CGO Council advisor and wing commander.
Randolph's WSOC course is designed enhance the job performance of junior officers, strengthen professional values and assist in transforming lieutenants into flight commanders.
The course covers the wing's mission, leadership, officership, career development and management. The WSOC provides newly commissioned officers with the tools needed to run a section or flight and demonstrates how to be more effective in their leadership role. The officers also receive detailed instruction in: officer and enlisted professional military education, the promotion system, assignment process, enlisted issues, organizational management, and enlisted and officer performance report writing. The EPR/ OPR seminar gives the officers practice at writing reports so they are better prepared as supervisor.
