A Long Way From Normal by Awadagin Pratt (EMI Classics CDC 0777 5 55025 2 0)--Fulbright scholar and award-winning pianist and composer Nnenna Ogwo calls Awadagin's playing passionate. While all of the selections are performed well, it is really the Bach-Busoni: chaconne that has Awadagin's stamp on it. He injects such fire into the piece. At present he is receiving much praise from the critics and is on an extensive concert tour. His dreadlocks offer an imposing visual presence not seen in the classical houses of the world.
