Students urged to be true to their school

This week, Pulse reporters asked their fellow students for an example of good or bad school spirit.

"Here at Highland it is good school spirit when everyone goes to football games and cheers. An example of bad school spirit at Highland is ripping down the banners." -- Jared Wilburn, senior, Highland High School

"I think our good spirit is shown by our pride in our school, but not to the extent that we harm others or interfere with other people and what they're doing." -- Caryn Allen, senior, West Jordan High School

"An example of bad school spirit at Highland is when people don't go to the assemblies. What I think is an example of good school spirit at Highland is at the basketball games. People seem to like the sport, so they show up." --Atong Deng, senior, Highland

"I think it's pretty good because our teams are well supported. People will go to games in Logan and Provo." -- Ashten Higbee, junior, Olympus High School

"There was only one person watching the tennis match the other day, and that was me! That's horrible school spirit!" -- Shane Farr, senior, West Jordan

"It's good when people dress up because it shows that they have school spirit. Not everybody dresses up though." -- Marc Camp, senior, Olympus

"Bad school spirit at Highland is when girls or guys don't ask for the school dances. Good school spirit is when students and faculty show up for school games, like football, and support our teams." -- Rose Abalos, sophomore, Highland

"I think that we have good school spirit because lots of people go to the football games and participate in those kinds of activities." - - Jeremy Knowles, sophomore, West Jordan

"Good school spirit at Highland is when I see people cheering at the football games and not being disrespectful. Bad school spirit is when people are throwing things onto the court at the basketball games." -- Beth Glenn, sophomore, Highland

"I think more people should have school spirit. Nobody really dresses up or gets excited about it. I think they should, even though I don't." -- Sage Hoenicke, junior, Olympus

Adela Zecevic is a senior at Highland High School, Cody Rogers is a senior at West Jordan High School and Emma Sheffield is a senior at Olympus High School.
