Michael L. Harris, Capital-JournalPolice search for missing man
MANHATTAN --- Police are trying to find a Holton man whose pickup truck was found Monday night in Manhattan.
Riley County police Capt. Gary Grubbs said authorities were searching for Michael L. Harris, 41, whose pickup was found on Tuttle Creek Boulevard. Harris is described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call Riley County police Detective Patrick Tiede at (785) 537-2112, ext. 3086, or Holton police Chief Dave Lanning at (785) 364-2174.
Man arrested in store robbery
A man apparently hiding in bushes was arrested late Tuesday in connection with the robbery of a south Topeka convenience store.
Police spokeswoman Kristi Pankratz said officers responded at about 10:45 p.m. to a reported robbery at Kwik Shop, 102 S.W. 37th, in which a man ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officer Scott Gilchrist and a police dog searched along the Landon Trail and arrested the suspected robber, who was found in bushes at about 11:05 p.m. Christopher J. Pinks, 30, no permanent address, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with robbery, city warrants and a felony warrant.
