Elizabeth Snead Los Angeles Daily NewsHow many cars does a rock star need? As many as he can afford.
Which must be why Rod Stewart couldn't resist buying the second 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 (for a mere 70 grand) auctioned by Jay Leno at Barbara Davis' Carousel of Hope gala Saturday.
The 16th annual gala benefiting juvenile diabetes had a surreal star count: Ivana Trump, Muhammad Ali, Sidney Poitier, Michael Caine, Kelsey Grammer, Mischa Barton, Kristin Davis, Lara Flynn Boyle, Samuel L. Jackson, Brittany Murphy, Sela Ward, David Schwimmer, Dennis Miller, Dennis Hopper, Clive Davis, Tommy Hilfiger, Farrah Fawcett. The gala has raised more than $60 million for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, www.barbaradaviscenter.org, in Denver.
