Growth Strategies implications
In its size, influence and power, California is almost becoming its own country. In its economic growth, social dynamism, demographic diversity and cultural vibrancy, California is an archetype -a microcosm of the future. If you can understand and leverage the new marketplace and organizational realities in California, you can be successful most anywhere.
California's past and future are both characterized by dramatic growth and change. Growth and change are in our future, in other words, whether we prepare for them or not. But the difference planning will make is turning growth and change into advancement, not degradation.
Planning for change is hard politically, especially in good times. With jobs, income and consumer confidence rising, crime rates dropping and the state budget in surplus, it's not surprising only 40% of Californians keep track of government and public affairs "most of the time" (Field Poll). But preparing and planning for growth is necessary. Our advice? Be visionary it's practical.
