Colorado beats CC for second straight year
For The GazetteBOULDER - The University of Colorado women's soccer team defeated Colorado College 1-0 Sunday afternoon.
The win over CC (5-2) was the second for Colorado (5-3, 1-1 Big 12) in as many years and kept the Buffaloes' unbeaten in four home matches in 1999.
"Colorado College played well, they battled us hard," said coach Austin Daniels. "It is nice to grind out a win, which is what we did today. The rivalry between our two schools just keeps getting better and better."
The win over Colorado College was especially sweet for CU since both Daniels and assistant Dang Pibulvech were coaches for CC in the 1980s. Pibulvech coached the Tigers from 1983-1989, Daniels assisted Pibulvech from 1986-88.
Sophomore midfielder Heather Zonker scored the lone goal at the 17- minute mark - her first goal of the season.
