Growth Strategies implications
Let's see now, a review of our three items:
1. businesswomen are not rewarded commensurately with their skills and abilities; 2. combining marriage, childbearing and career is impossibly difficult; 3. young women are being exploited by a culture than has heedlessly devalued courtship and marriage. Yikes!
Friends, don't despair - these trends do not represent the experience of the majority of women at any of these life stages. Yes, they are signals of distress in certain areas, but ones that will be acknowledged, and then changed. There are already positive signs and countertrends for the majority of women in each area: thriving in businesses large and small; successfully combining marriage, children and career; and young women rediscovering the benefits of modesty, courtship and abstinence. New arrangements and solutions are sure to emerge.
The lesson here is that there are unfair situations and tradeoffs in life for everyone, and difficult choices to be made. But hard choices are better than no choices. Over time perhaps women as well as men will learn they can still have it all - maybe just not all at once.
