NAIL WINS PRIMA DONNA LIBEL CASE
DAVID MCMILLANJIMMY NAIL today won "substantial" libel damages in the High Court over allegations that he acted like a prima donna, was rude, arrogant and had forgotten his Northern roots.
The 47-year-old Newcastle-born actor and singer suffered "grave damage to his personal and professional reputation" over the allegations by Karen Wright which appeared in the Newcastle's Sunday Sun in May, said his solicitor Martin Cruddace. It had also been alleged that Nail, famous for his role in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, had thrown a "show-biz strop".
Newcastle Chronicle and Journal Ltd and Ms Wright accepted all the allegations were "totally untrue". They agreed to pay the undisclosed damages and Nail's legal costs and offered "unreserved and sincere apologies".
