PeopleSoft Targets Homeland Security
Renee Boucher FergusonTargeting homeland security, PeopleSoft Inc. on Tuesday announced at its Connect 2002 user conference in New Orleans, two new software modules aimed at its higher education and public sector install base.
PeopleSoft PASS SEVIS [Patriot Act Student and Exchange Visitor Information System Solution] will help colleges and universities comply with the federal mandate to track and report information regarding the status of foreign students in the United States.
The Immigration and Naturalization Service launched SEVIS to address the approximately 200,000 foreign students unaccounted for in the United States. Beginning in January of 2003, higher education institutions must track numerous criteria pertaining to a foreign student's status. Any changes to a student's status must be regularly reported to the INS.
PASS will help colleges and universities submit the information to the INS in real time, officials said.
