Mary's tuned in to her favourite places
Mary JohnstonMary Johnston is a presenter for BBC Radio Ulster, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast.
Favourite restaurant: I love the upstairs dining room in Deanes, 38- 40 Howard Street, Belfast.
The food is true haute cuisine and the service is great. Roscoff is also a special eaterie and it is always a treat to be taken there.
And the Metro restaurant in the Cresent Town House, Botanic Avenue, is a welcome addition to the city.
Now I'm looking foward to trying out Aero, a new place to eat in Bedford Street.
Favourite shop: I'm a wannabe of The Glasshouse in Bedford Street, Belfast.
It's a brilliant clothes shop but I do tend to worry about the mutton dressed as lamb' trap women of my age sometimes fall into.
Good old Wallis, 18-22 Castle Place, Belfast, continues to come up with the goods.
Favourite location: I'm afraid they're not in Ireland but I have four special places I love to visit - California, the south of France and Green Turtle Bay and the Bahamas.
Of course my absolute favourite is Broadcasting House, the hotbed of BBC talent in Ormeau Avenue, Belfast.
Favourite pub: Katy Daly's in Ormeau Avenue, Belfast, is handy to pop out to after work.
I also love to sit outside at Cutter's Wharf and David Donelly is the perfect host.
There is also a great little place in Drumbo called Robert Stewarts.
Favourite health club: I am no great fan of clubs, but I am an occasional visitor to the Elysium at the Slieve Donard Hotel, Down's Road, Newcastle.
Favourite hairdressers: I have been a regular client of Kathy Battisti of the Battisti Hair Studio, Stranmillis Road, Belfast, since she was a junior in Adam & Eve way back in the 1980s.
Favourite shoe shop: There is a new, rather exclusive shoe shop called Rojo at 613 Lisburn Road, Belfast, which has some fabulous shoes, but I have to be honest - the fashion police are more likely to spot me in Dunnes Stores.
Favourite bookshop: Waterstones in Royal Avenue, Belfast. And there is a divine little book shop in Sansalito outside San Francisco which I'd love to browse through just once more.
