Mercedes vans never sleep - business news - Brief Article
Bosses at one of Britain's leading bed retailers can sleep easy thanks to the dedicated experts at Hughes of Aylesbury's Mercedes-Benz van centre.
That's because while the team from Dreams are in the land of nod, expert technicians from Hughes make sure their 35-strong fleet of Mercedes vans are in pristine condition for the following day's deliveries.
Dreams, which has 60 outlets across England, prides itself on running one of the best delivery operations in the country and can often supply a bed to a customer's home on the same day the order is placed!
With such a demanding service to operate, the High Wycombe-based company must make full use of its delivery fleet, which is made up entirely of Luton-bodied Mercedes Sprinter chassis cabs, a combination of 311CDIs and old-model 312Ds.
That's why Dreams signs up to comprehensive four-year Mercedes-Benz maintenance and repair contracts with all of its new van purchases, which have included three Sprinters just before Christmas and another two in January, all of them additions to the total fleet size.
The company's Executive Operations Manager Adrian Read says: "The best part of the service from our point of view is that Hughes' van centre has a mobile technician who visits us, rather than vice-versa. This cuts down significantly on the amount of time that our vehicles are off the road, because they don't have to go to the dealership for regular servicing.
"It's also great that the mobile technician service operates round the clock. Our vans deliver seven-days-a-week and are often out well into the evening so it's ideal having them serviced overnight. It means there is minimal disruption to our business," adds Read.
