Bad Par-formance
JOHN CRAWFORDIt took the Pars just one game to find out that the second season back in the Premier Division is always the toughest as they lost to Motherwell.
But it took a controversial 65th minute penalty to display the distance in true quality between the two sets of players at East End Park.
Ray Sharp tried a naive challenge at the edge of the box, Eddie May dived dramatically and the ref pointed to the spot. Tommy Coyne's strike beat Ian Westwaster's despairing dive.
Thankfully it was a moment of magic that settled the destination of the three points five minutes before the end.
A Mickey Weir free kick from wide on the left found Coyne with his back to goal six yards out.
The Republic of Ireland international casually volleyed the ball with the back of his heel into the roof of the net.
Apart from that this game suggested that we are in for another 10 months of lamenting the quality of Scottish football.
