Walter Smith has made a bold move into Serie A to sign a new keeper - AC Milan's Angelo Pagotto.

Pagotto, Milan's cover keeper, has been unsettled for some time - now Rangers have made a move.

Pagotto told Italian newspapers yesterday: "I have several offers to consider but by far the best is one from Glasgow Rangers."

Smith, plotting yet another European Champions' League campaign, wants a keeper to push Ibrox No 1 Andy Goram next term.

Paul Ince also received a great offer from Rangers - but though the Inter Milan and England midfielder WILL be coming back to Britain after the UEFA Cup final, it WON'T be to Ibrox.

The SUNDAY MIRROR can reveal that Ince's best offer came from Rangers, but he is likely to go to Arsenal, Blackburn or Liverpool.

Ince fears a move to Scotland and guaranteed Champions' League football could harm his England hopes.
