McGHEE IN ELBOW ROW
JOHN CURTISWOLVES boss Mark McGhee pointed an angry finger at Birmingham City midfielder Ian Richardson after key defender Neil Emblen was taken to hospital with a serious shoulder injury.
McGhee accused Richardson of using an elbow in a shuddering collision between the two players in the Wolves penalty area at the end of the first half.
Emblen had been a key figure as Wolves were hardly troubled in the first half, but after his departure they were left hanging on for a 1- 1 draw. McGhee claimed: "Emblen took a blow to the face and in my opinion I thought the blow came from an elbow.
"I was a bit incensed to say the least, but the referee was not willing to discuss the situation.
"Up until that point to me there had only looked one winner - us. They were finding it difficult and that was a turning point."
But Richard Forsyth, Blues star player and a Wolves fan as a youngster said: "It was an innocuous challenge and McGhee tried to make a big deal out of it.
"He was saying that Richardson should have been sent off but Ian is not that sort of person and wouldn't injure somebody deliberately."
Gary Poole's second half goal earned Blues a replay at Molineux after Steve Bull had given Wolves a first half lead.
There were more calls for the head of Carrow Road chairman Robert Chase after Norwich went down 2-1 to Division Two underdogs Brentford.
Leicester held Alan Ball's Manchester City to a 0-0 draw while West Brom were beaten 4-3 at Division Two leaders Crewe. Coventry won 3-1 at Plymouth despite having David Busst sent off.
