My summer holiday
Catherine SweeneyWith the summer holidays well under way, the country's pupils have left their schools to enjoy the sun.
Here Catherine Sweeney explains what she plans to do over the summer break.
WE HAVE broken up now for the school holidays - which is brilliant - but now I have to wait for nine weeks before I go to secondary school.
In the meantime I plan to go to summer camp for nine days, which I'm really looking forward to.
It means that I get to go away and spend lots of time with my friends.
It's going to be a brilliant summer in Rathmullen. We are going to be canoeing, swimming, hiking, absailing and rehearsing and performing talent shows, which should be great fun.
I did not go to the camp last year but when everyone came back after the summer all they talked about was their time enjoying all the outdoor pursuits and the sun, although it did rain a little.
This year when I get back from Rathmullen my family might be renting a cottage in Donegal.
My mum's best friend and her husband might come too.
I also intend to go to the beach just as I have done in previous summer holidays.
Some mornings I start out very early with my family and we always take a picnic and stop for chips on the way too.
Every summer my friends and I all play ball games including rounders.
We usually hold competitions on our roller blades and sometimes I ride my bike when I go for rides with my daddy and sister.
I am positive I'm going to have a fantastic time this summer.
