Highlights from the 2000 CA Golf Tournament

On September 7, 2000,133 members turned out for the 41st annual CA Golf Tournament held at the University Golf Club. For the twelfth straight year, Ben Moxon, CA organized the Institute's most popular event.

"The tournament is a great way for CAs to get together with people they worked with years ago and don't get a chance to see very often," says Ben. "Stuart Watson, CA; Phil Rogers, CA; Olin Anton, CA and Paul Stevenson, CA worked together at Arthur Andersen years ago and for the past 15 years they've come together at the golf tournament."

Top HONOURS

Seven trophies were presented for outstanding performance. Dan Aspinall, CA, won the men's low gross, shooting a oneunder-par 71. Kathryn

McGarvey, CA, took the ladies' low gross with 81. Her team, which included John Beckett, Dave Chucko and Mike Cheevers was presented with the trophy for team low gross. Other winners included Larry Miller, CA (80), Men's Over 55; Tom Kay, CA (72), Men's Low Net; Bob Armstrong, CA (72), Men's Over 40 Low Net. Don Gowan was Men's Low Gross - 3rd place.

The tournament did not have a full field of 144 players this year. This is a great venue for entertaining clients or offering a "golf afternoon" to valued employees. It is not a requirement that participants be CAs. One thing that is for sure, though, is that every participant is guaranteed a prize (of usually $20 - $50 in value) and a great golf experience at one of the most popular courses in the city. The University Golf Course staff does a great job in maintaining great course conditions and putting on a delicious steak/salmon barbecue, with all the fixings!
