As a main sponsor of the events each year, the ICABC recruits accounting professionals to mentor students in BC classrooms.
"Coaching Business Challenge teams is a volunteer activity very much in keeping with the Institute's commitment to leadership in career prep and accounting education," says Steven Thibault, Career Development Coordinator for the ICABC. "Our members enjoy working with the schools, and it's great to see contacts happening between high school students and our accounting professionals."
Amongst the BC volunteers this year were CA students Andrew Chen and Gladys Fung, both of Arthur Andersen LLP who were instrumental in preparing Burnaby North Secondary's students for competition. Also volunteering were Rosie Shaheen and Ryan Barrington-- Foote, both of KPMG LLP who mentored the students from Riverside Secondary School.
Those interested in volunteering for the 2001 challenge should contact Lesley MacGregor at ICABC at (604) 681-3264.
