Mark TaylorI am a huge fan of your magazine, but I was very disappointed to see that the Oxford University study suggesting that vitamin supplements do not prevent specific diseases was not mentioned ("Raising the Supplements Question," Sept. 2002). That's not the balanced reporting I've come to expect from BN. Are you censoring the news for us? Do your advertisers fear academic studies that don't do their advertising for them? We can separate the wheat from the chaff.

No, we don't censor the news for the sake of our advertisers, but we do occasionally make oversights. You're right, we should have mentioned the Oxford study alongside JAMA's. See p. 26 for information about the study, which appeared in the July 2002 issue of The Lancet.
