Deploying a Supply Chain Management System
Regina KwonThis chart shows the total costs of implementing a system for managing the purchase and move-ment of goods from supplier to consumer. The example is based on a general-merchandise retailer that is integrating a large number of new software and hardware modules into an existing supply-chain system. The scale of the two-year deployment assumes 20 regional distribution centers, 2,100 stores and about 75,000 different products stocked in each store. Project planners may regard these costs as representative of systems of this size and scope, but should tailor line items and cost estimates to meet their own requirements.
