TELECOMWORLDWIRE-8 August 2000-TSO and Compaq team up to offer e-business code of best practice (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
The Stationery Office (TSO), a regulatory publisher to the British Parliament, and Compaq Computer Ltd have partnered to launch what they claim to be the UK's first broad based code of best practice for e-business.
Designed to help emerging e-business companies achieve overall legal compliance and manage their risks in this area, the new code covers existing law on data protection, copyright, contracts, defamation, computer misuse and security. It also addresses online trading issues. Legally the code is supported by TSO's legal partners, IT law specialists Baker & McKenzie.
The Code of Best Practice for e-Business is initially available free of charge as a download from http://www.itcompliance.com. Over the coming months TSO and Compaq plan to develop the web site to ultimately provide a one-stop shop for e-business compliance advice and systems.
