TRW Inc. Sells Braking And Foundry Plants
TRW said it has agreed to sell one of its braking cast products plants in Detroit, Mich., and a foundry in Ontario, Canada, to American Commercial Industries, Inc. (ACI). Terms were not disclosed.
ACI, headquartered in Troy, Mich., is part of the American Commercial Holdings (ACH) group, which owns interests in the automotive, heavy-duty truck, steel and construction industries. ACI's current product offering includes stampings, chassis baffles and plugs, and remanufactured automotive parts.
John Plant, executive vice president and general manager, TRW Chassis Systems said, "We are delighted that our Detroit braking cast products plant and Eureka commitment to producing high quality drums and rotors for automotive customers worldwide."
TRW said its Detroit braking plant manufactures drums and rotors for the automotive industry. Its Eureka foundry produces gray iron castings used in the production of brake rotors, drums and hubs.
These divestments follow a strategic review of TRW's global braking manufacturing facilities, the company said.
