EAGLES CLAWED!
MATTHEW WILLIAMSHat Trick hero Greg Barwick had plenty to celebrate after wrecking travel-sick Sheffield's hopes of victory at the Valley.
The Broncos ran riot, grabbing eight tries to leave sorry Sheffield - who have only one away win all season - cursing their luck yet again.
Barwick's three-try haul, the first by a London player in Super League, raised his side's hopes of a top-four finish and he admitted: "This should give the whole club a boost."
Sheffield never looked like improving their dismal away record despite a blockbusting display from skipper Paul Broadbent.
The Broncos held all the aces with Barwick, centre Mark McGuire and scrum half Leo Dynevor outstanding.
McGuire grabbed 20 points with two tries and six goals from eight attempts as London raced to their first home win against Sheffield in eight years.
Dynevor created the opening try for Barwick after nine minutes and caused Sheffield all sorts of problems.
Sub Steve Rosolen extended London's lead in the 22nd minute before McGuire touched down, moments before the break.
London's rearguard cracked just once in 80 minutes when Broadbent capped a fine display with Sheffield's only try, five minutes into the second half, before the Broncos stepped up a gear. They crossed five times in the final 25 minutes with Dynevor involved in all but one - created for McGuire in the 55th minute by Peter Gill and Graham Strutton.
Tulsen Tollet, London's leading try scorer this season, joined in the scoring with his ninth touch down of the current campaign before Barwick raced over to complete his hat trick.
Dynevor and Gill combined to set up the third of Barwick's treble nine minutes from time before Ray Allen raced clear to dive over two minutes from time.
Daryll Pitt's late dropped goal made things even worse for Sheffield, whose coach Gary Hetherington said: "We were very competitive for an hour but London are a fast side and played some great rugby in the last 20 minutes.
"I was disappointed with our defence - you can't make as many mistakes as we did against a top team like London and hope to come away with the points."
