A sight for score eyes
JULIA ROBSONGAIL McKENNA says that the only brief she was given about what clothes to wear to present on her L!VE TV sports slot "was just that - brief".
"Because the majority of people switching on to sport are male, I was chosen as an added ingredient to hold attention - especially when we're losing at cricket," explains the actress and former topless model.
"I was initially given a budget to go out and buy some sexy gear, but what I thought was sexy from a woman's perspective just wasn't sexy enough.
"Now my presenting outfits are ultra-sexy, but also what I'd consider to be stylish.
"It's a happy compromise on both sides.
"Most of my own clothes emphasise what I'd call my curves - but perhaps I've become a little more outrageous for television."
Gail went from a successful career in modelling to acting, appearing briefly as Barry Grant's girlfriend in Brookside, then taking time off to have her first baby, James, now aged three. She says: "I had always intended going back to acting.
"I did some commercials in between spending time with James for a few years.
"Then I heard about L!VE TV, went for the interview and everything just seemed to fall into place."
Gail has two daily slots at 6.30pm and 10pm Monday to Friday and has switched smoothly from getting her kit off to watching others perform in theirs.
"I was born in Liverpool and went to loads of matches as a kid," she says, "so I've always followed football. But I had to read up on other sports.
"Right now I'm crazy about cricket. I never took time before to follow a match - now I'm totally hooked."
