N. Korea missiles may be capable of reaching Alaska
WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 Kyodo
North Korean missile capability may be more advanced than previously thought, and may be capable of reaching Alaska, a U.S. senator said Wednesday, quoting the U.S. intelligence chief.
Robert Smith, a Republican from New Hampshire, made the remarks after a classified briefing by Central Intelligence Agency Director George Tenet at the Senate Armed Services Committee.
The panel held the session in response to North Korea's Aug. 31 launch of a rocket, part of which landed in the Sea of Japan and other parts fell into the Pacific.
