Joyful homecoming for wife who killed
Mark ReynoldsBRITISH nurse Helen Cummings, cleared of murdering her unfaithful American husband, was joyfully reunited with her baby son in England today.
Eight months pregnant with the dead man's child, she had faced the possibility of life in prison after admitting she blasted husband Tyler to death with a handgun in their Florida home on St Valentine's Day.
However, a jury in Fort Lauderdale acquitted her of second-degree murder after hearing she had suffered battered wife syndrome, and shot her spouse in a confrontation over naked photographs of him with another woman. Today Mrs Cummings, 33, was reunited with Terry, 16 months, after her flight from the US touched down in Birmingham, and said she wanted to spend time with friends and family in Preston, Lancashire. She said: "The whole thing is such a tragedy. I've got to live with it forever and I've got to tell the children." Mrs Cummings added: "I do miss him {her husband} and I still love him, but I can show that love by bringing up his children and by bringing them up the best I can."
