Paul: My guilt over Linda
Peter McdonaldSIR PAUL McCARTNEY has revealed that he underwent therapy after the death of his wife, Linda, to deal with guilt that he had not been a perfect husband.
The rock legend found it "really helpful" but admitted, seven months after her death from cancer, that he is still not completely free of the feeling.
In an interview with singer and family friend Chrissie Hynde, the former Beatle also revealed that Linda used marijuana to ease her pain, and explained his decision not to invite Yoko Ono to her memorial service. {I asked} only Linda's nearest and dearest friends. Yoko wasn't one of those." Of his guilt, he said: "I did get a counsellor. When anyone you love this much dies you wish you could have been perfect. I had quite a bit of guilt and probably still have. When someone dies, you remember only the arguments." Sir Paul, in the interview for USA Weekend magazine, also recalled how Linda turned to marijuana to help her through chemotherapy. "Being Sixties people, we had smoked pot for a long time and certain medical people did suggest it," he said. "And she did for a little while. Then she gave up completely, just in case it wasn't helping." Of the future, he said: "Without her it won't be as much fun as it would have been, that's for sure." in Los Angeles
