SHIRLEY TEMPLE: I WAS A BAD GIRL
Peter McdonaldLEGENDARY child star Shirley Temple admits that in real life she had a wicked streak, very unlike the sweet characters she played.
She made Cary Grant so angry when he caught her doing an imitation of him that she was sent to the office of the studio chief David Selznick for a telling off.
Another time, she hit First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt on the bottom with a catapult. Shirley Temple Black, now 70, told USA Today she "couldn't resist" using her catapult as Mrs Roosevelt bent over to tend a barbecue. "She yelped, but no one saw me do it but my mother. Back at the hotel I was punished in the same place I hit Eleanor." Mrs Temple Black, a former US ambassador, recalled the incidents on the eve of being honoured at Kennedy Center Honors.
