Killie up!
ANDREW BAILLIEKilmarnock 2
Raith 0
BATTLING Kilmarnock eased their relegation nightmares with a much needed victory at Rugby Park.
Second-half strikes from Colin McKee and Paul Wright lit up a dull contest with few chances created.
But the only thing that matters to Kilmarnock is the three points which stop their freefall down the table
Killie were first to attack and after only three minutes rightback Gus MacPherson saw his 25-yard belter touched round the post by Raith keeper Bobby Geddes.
But it was Kilmarnock who grabbed the vital opener after 69 minutes.
Derek Anderson found Wright on the edge of the box, and his quick pass beat the offside trap and found and unmarked McKee, who made no mistake with a first time right foot shot.
And Wright put the game beyond Raith's reach seven minutes later when he raced onto new signing Jim McIntyre's chip and flicked the ball home from a tight angle.
Killie's towering centrehalf Neil Whitworth was stretchered off with a knee injury.
