Geri's flag frock fetches GBP 41,000
John ShawFORMER Spice Girl Geri Halliwell's Union flag dress, worn for the Brit Awards last year, sold for GBP 41,320 at Sotheby's in London today.
There were cheers, whistles and applause when the hammer fell to Peter Morgan of the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, bidding on the phone. Today's sale, which included 89 of the star's dresses and the 1967 MG sports car she bought with her first royalty cheque, raised a total of GBP 146,511.
The flag dress had been forecast to make between GBP 8,000 and GBP 12,000. After the auction, the singer thanked everyone who had taken part. Proceeds of the auction will go to the Sir Malcolm Sergeant Fund for cancer care for children.
