Cookie-making ingenuity
Laura Stone ShifflettePreparing for my first holiday cookie party, I was delighted to see your timely tips in "Cookie Party" (December, page 95). I took many of the hints to heart, including making dozens of cutout cookies in advance. When I went to our local kitchen store (Mrs. Cook's in Seattle's University Village; 206/525-5008) for supplies, the expert there also made a few helpful suggestions. She recommended using disposable pastry bags instead of heavy zip-lock plastic bags to pipe the icing. They are easier to use. We placed them in tall glasses between uses (this effectively contained any renegade icing). In the middle of the party, a guest suggested a lazy susan to share the icings and decorations more handily.
