83% back him on internet poll
GEORGIA WILLIAMSTHE OVERWHELMING majority of Londoner's who answered an Evening Standard internet questionnaire backed Ken Livingstone's decision to stand for Mayor, writes Georgia Williams. Of the 1,500 people who left responses on the Evening Standard's website www.thisislondon.com, 83 per cent supported him.
Visitors to the site were asked to click "Yes" or "No" on whether Mr Livingstone had made the right decision and were then asked, "Will he live to regret the decision or has he made the ultimate sacrifice for the good of Londoners?"
Dozens left emails of support while criticising the way the election of Labour's candidate was organised. Mark Campbell emailed: "I'm glad Ken has had the courage of his convictions and given a voice to the countless millions of Londoners who are wholeheartedly sickened by the Tory policies of New Labour."
