Your Letters: Going off the rails
D M WoodsYOU reported that trial email and internet facilities will be introduced on trains. Are railways seeking to alienate even more passengers?
On a recent 90-minute journey, two passengers near me text- messaged for the whole time and one chap had his laptop up and logged in before he even sat down. Sad or what? Then there was the mother carrying on a silly and unnecessary conversation with her teenage daughter for an entire half hour.
If, as we are urged, we are to let the "train take the strain" I trust that the railways will ensure that this happy band of techno- twits are rightfully incarcerated in their own fuggy little carriages, away from normal human beings.
