Your Letters: Reader's letter
P FosterMOST people have sympathy for farmers in these troubled times, but to read that the farmer accused of spreading foot-and-mouth disease has received pounds 1.3million in compensation is absolutely incredible. It seems farmers get subsidies in good times and in bad times, but if an engineering firm here in the West Midlands has problems the usual Government response seems to be: "Sorry, we can't interfere with competition". Call me cynical, but it seems farmers can have their lamb chop and eat it.
